God's Promise :)

The first thing Noah did was to thank God for rescuing them, just as he had promised.

And the first thing God did was to make another promise. "I won't ever destroy the world again." And like a warrior who puts away his bow and arrow at the end of a great battle, God said, "See, I have hung up my bow in the clouds."

And there, in the clouds - just where the storm meets the sun - was a beautiful bow made of light.

It was a new beginning in God's world.

It wasn't long before everything went wrong again but God wasn't surprised, he knew this would happen. That's why, before the beginning of time, he had another plan - a better plan. A plan not to destroy the world, but to rescue it - a plan to one day send his own Son, the Rescuer.

God's strong anger against hate and sadness and death would come down once more - but not on his people, or his world. No, God's war bow was not pointing down at his people.

It was pointing up, into the heart of Heaven.

Police threaten Christians with arrest for feeding homeless

I read this article this morning and was struck with a heavy heart and with so many questions....Is this what our Country has come to? Where is our Freedoms? When has it become a felony to be kind and generous to those of less fortune?

(If you do not agree with this post of having the liberty of being kind, loving and having compassion for others, please do not continue to read)

Police threaten Christians with arrest for feeding homeless:

Christians in Raleigh, NC have been told they will be arrested if they don't stop their regular ministry of feeding homeless and needy people on weekends.
Without just cause or legal citation, Raleigh police threatened Love Wins Ministries (LWM) for following Jesus' teachings of feeding the poor by simply handing food and coffee to hungry people near a city park.

According to Rev. Hugh Hollowell, the pastor and director of LWM, last Saturday, sausage biscuits and coffee were to be distributed to people in need.
"On that morning three officers from Raleigh Police Department prevented us from doing our work, for the first time ever. An officer said, quite bluntly, that if we attempted to distribute food, we would be arrested," the pastor said.
"No representative from the Raleigh Police Department was willing to tell us which ordinance we broke, or why, after six years and countless friendly and cooperative encounters with the department, they are now preventing us from feeding hungry people,"  the pastor said.
"When I asked the officer why, he said that he was not going to debate me. 'I am just telling you what is. Now you pass out that food, you will go to jail.'"
Pastor Hugh's response, regardless of any law the city may have, is an encouragement to other Christians. "Simple: We will feed people."

TAKE ACTION

Raleigh's mayor and city council need to step up to the plate and support ministries like Love Wins Ministries which are reaching out to the homeless and hungry.

Please send them a word of encouragement to come forward and clarify that no police action will be taken against Christians putting their faith into action.

You Can Take Heart in Uncertainty! an article I read and enjoyed

You Can Take Heart in Uncertainty

uncertainty
Uncertainty is a difficult thing to bear. We want to know where the provision is going to come from or if we’re going to die of this disease or how this child is going to turn out or if our job will still be there next month.
But as we see in Luke 9:57–58, Jesus makes it clear that his disciples must be able to bear uncertainty if they are to follow him.
“I will follow you wherever you go.”
I’m sure that whoever made this public declaration to Jesus was sincere. They likely had heard him preach and seen him perform amazing signs and wonders. As Jesus’s fame increased, so did the number of his would-be disciples.
What the person might not have known was that at that moment Jesus was homeless. Jesus and his cohort were traveling south from Galilee. He had set his face to go to Jerusalem, where his resolute purpose was to die. But to get there he had to travel through Samaria.
Getting the Context
Back then there was a lot of bad blood between Jews and Samaritans. More precisely, Samaritans had the bad blood. They were the result of centuries of intermarriage and religious syncretism between Jews and Israel’s former Gentile conquerors.

Lamplighter: Ishmael by E.D.E.N (book review)

Ishmael by E.D.E.N

Ishmael is a wonderfully captivating story that will make you want more. It is filled with amazing conviction, love, passion, selflessness, and determination. The story written by E.D.E.N Southworth tells of Ishmael Worth's humble, yet unfortunate beginnings. He entered life motherless and poor, and despite the wishes of everyone around him, survived and flourished in his environment. His commitment to character and integrity, and his singular focus on preserving his mother’s name, gave his life focus and purpose. His perseverance and determination to educate himself in the end gives him the opportunity to influence the highest levels of government. Ishmael's pure and noble spirit, in spite of deprivation and condemnation, it is uplifting and inspiring.

Ishmael is set in the late 1800s, and it beautifully depicts the life and society of the time, capturing the rich panorama of sights and sounds in Maryland, decades prior to the Civil War. The start of the story is a bit slow, but the plot is forms perfectly together with intriguing events that will have you enthralled to the end.

Ishmael lives a life of turmoil, but never allows his circumstances to determine who he is, and what he will become. Ishmael’s incredible faith in the Lord, and how it helps sustain him through his various trials and tribulations, are the essence and heartbeat of this story. He allows the grit of this life to mold him, instead of wearing him down. Reminding us in hard times to look to Christ.

This is an excellent book for teens and adults. A must-read that will make you cry, laugh, smile and cause you to root for the underdog and wrongfully accused. From past experience, you will want to make sure you have the sequel, "Self Raised" on hand after you have finished Ishmael. You won’t want to stop. Thankfully, my Mother had and quickly loaned me "Self Raised".

Cultivating a Strong Marriage (an article shared by kirkcameron.com)

Cultivating a Strong Marriage

strongmarriage
One Sunday, my pastor shared his intention to deepen his marriage and pour into the heart of his wife. I thought, “Our marriage could use some cultivating as well.” It had been a while since my husband and I went out together. Then I received a text from my husband, “Let’s go on a date this week.”
Our lives are run in super speed with jobs, responsibilities, and the kids. Our usual conversations consist of, “Can you fix the leaking sink?” “Will you watch the kids next week while I go to the dentist?” and “The breaks in my car have been squealing.” With work schedules and life responsibilities ruling our lives, date night had been pushed to the side for months.
So after my husband’s text, we decided to commit to a date night and that same week we enjoyed dinner at the marina and a walk along the beach.
Time slows down by the sea. The crashing waves perform a relaxing melody that soothes the soul. The feel of the sand under our feet, the water lapping at our ankles, and the endless sea before us were a reminder that life is much bigger than our hectic schedules. Walking together, we added our own footprints to the well-trod beach. We talked. We reconnected as friends. And we drew hearts in the sand.
Before we know it, our children will be grown and out on their own. With the house suddenly quiet and more time on our hands, who will we be? Children and our busy way of life can cause us to push our marriage to the side, hoping to tend to it later.
But what if later, all that’s left are two strangers?
Do you remember your marriage before having children? When our children are young, we spend all our energy on taking care of their needs, 24/7. Parenting responsibilities can drain us physically, mentally, and emotionally, and there just doesn’t seem to be anything left to put into our marriage. Yet, marriage is the foundation to a family. Children thrive and grow when their parents have a strong and healthy marriage. Spending quality time together is one of the best ways to keep a marriage healthy, for your children’s sake and for the sake of your marriage.
Ideas for cultivating a strong marriage:
  • Commit to a regular date night and stick to it.
  • Surprise your spouse by planning an unexpected date night. Plan to go somewhere you’ve never been before. Experience a new place you haven’t seen.
  • Be creative and create a list of fun date night activities that don’t cost much money, such as going on a picnic, hiking, canoeing, or participating in a sport.
  • Begin a new hobby together or take turns participating in each other’s hobbies.
  • Go to the park and read a book together. Take turns reading out loud.
  • Talk with one another about your hopes, dreams, and goals for the future.
  • Attend a weekend marriage conference.

PRODUCT REVIEW: Euroflex Monster Jet-II Floor Steam Cleaner

I have had my Euroflex Monster Jet-II Floor Steamer for a little over 3 years and I LOVE IT!

The reasons I would recommend this product to everyone, is:

* Very easy to use (Not like an ordinary mop that you would get a good arm workout to use properly)

* It is designed to be used on hardwood and tile floors. (Very important factor)

* It has 2 different steam levels, which makes it safer and more effective at cleaning tile and hardwood.

The water heats up to 240 degrees F.

* There are steam jets on the bottom and in the front. (So it is disinfecting baseboards while you    clean the floors.

* The water chamber is large enough to steam almost every room in my home.

* No need to scrub a sticky area for long period of time. Wipes everything clean with one swipe.

Dyson DC25 Review

It has been several months since my last post.....no excuses, other than being busy....but aren't we all! :) My plan is to start blogging more this Fall. I am going to give myself a goal of at least 2-4 posts per day....I know that isn't really all that much, but I need baby steps here. Some of my posts will be my review of a specific product, it may be a warning to stay away from that particular product or a two thumbs up review. This way, my readers can be informed before purchasing a certain item. (note: my reviews here are my thoughts and opinions only! Thank you for being patient with me and such great readers.

My Review Of The : Dyson DC25 Vaccuum

My Favorite Aspects Are:
* Strong Suction
* Easy To Empty Canister (One handed if need be)
* Cleaning Filters once a month
* Easy to maneuver (the ball makes is glide through the house)
* Not very loud (makes me happy)

The Dyson DC25 Vaccuum is well worth the higher price you will pay. I have had mine for three years now and it have NEVER broken down or had any issue arise, it also has never lost suction. It is a GREAT Vaccuum and I would recommend it to anyone who is in the market for a new Vaccuum cleaner.
