Handing Over Stress, Anger and Fear

We've all heard that trials come, and trials go. We can either worry and fret unendingly over them, or learn from them and of course breathe a huge sigh of relief when the light at the end of the tunnel finally seems to appear. However, sometimes there are circumstances and life events that come at us and it literally feels like an attack on our soul itself. Can you relate? I'm talking about the heart wrenching, tear streaming, at the end of our rope and can't take the hurt anymore moments.

These kind of "moments" are the ones which seem to last for weeks, months or even years.

After spending several days reading and studying Psalm 56. For me, Psalm 56 turned on that light bulb on how we should be handling such moments that will allow us to escape the sadness, fear, grief, and heartache... and accept help, deliverance and peace over it so we can stand up, move forward, and be thankful!

In this particular psalm, David calls out a prayer for help and deliverance. With a combination of evil doings of others, as well as his own fears and mistakes on his part, he finds himself in a mess that is consuming his heart and mind with grief. He walks himself through his problem in his prayer, and we can have breakthroughs of our own by following example.

David told God his problem. Nowhere in the psalm does it say he called up his friends, ran to his mom, ranted on Facebook, or discussed it at the office, like much of us too often do. He went to God crying... literally. He shared everything about what was bothering him. He explained his worries, fears, and what he was up against. He told God about how the people were running their mouth about him, twisting his words, and hoping he made mistakes that they could call him out on. He even told God not to let them get away with it and to cast them down. Of course God already knew and saw what he was going through, but David acknowledged God as his confidant by turning to Him, and Him alone.

When friends, family, co-workers or just life in general hands you those struggles, don't wait until YOU can't handle it any longer... kneel. Talk to Him. He sees what's going on, but who doesn't feel better after they vent a scenario that has rocked your world. Prayer is communication between us and the throne, so fill Him in with how it's troubling your heart. The words don't have to be perfect. They can be through tears, shouting, or just whispers.

Although David was still in the midst of his dilemma, he thanked God as though it was already solved and over with. He knew the battle was still raging against him, but he began speaking as though it was over. He claimed God's word and His promises. He thanked God for delivering him out of the situation. (Something I need to implement in my life more often than not).

Your problem, whatever it is, may be growing around you, building up like a concrete wall that seems to be unbreakable. Circumstances don't matter. He's the Creator of your adversaries, so surely you can trust in Him to handle them for you... because let's face it, His intervention will always be better than handling it on your own. So hold onto His promises to deliver you from it. Go about your day with a heart and mind full of joy. The enemy will come at you telling you it's getting worse, that it's not a fixable situation, and that you're just plain nuts for praising through the storm... but do it anyway. Don't feed into the words of discouragement that the enemy whispers in your ear. Let it go, and be done with it.

Life gets Dirty!

My children live in such a bubble.  Not exactly intentionally, but just as a result of the life we’ve chosen.  Consequently, I live in one, too, with our biggest issues of the day being One of them wanting to play with Their sibling's specific toy and the other not letting it happen, or One of them cutting their lip while running laps around the garden, or “so-in-so called me a baby”.  I admit, they are sheltered.  What they deal with at home is so minor, and is easy to clean up and to heal from.  I try to use every little instance to prep and train for the “real world”, but the dirty of the real world doesn’t brush off so easily and lately they have had a few glimpses of that.

The oldest experiencing more than once, someone not responding (or responding by turning away or walking away) when trying to talk and be friendly with them, and is left asking me ”Why ? Did I/we do something wrong??”

Or the middle child getting hit by a little child during play for no apparent reason.  Still… minor stuff in the big scheme of things, but the look in their eyes, pleading to understand why someone would do that to them, is heart-breaking and enough to make me want to enclose them in their bubble even more strictly.

But that would really make me a bad mama.  They cannot be sheltered from all the dirt and sin, hurt and trials of this life and I am so thankful that when they do experience these things, they come to me to talk about it.  It is all an opportunity to be worked out for good.  So we talk, and we pray, and we think about ‘next time.’  And of course, we go over how these experiences teach us a great deal about how we need to treat other people.

Life with kids is dirty.  Life in general is filthy.  I know I can’t protect them forever, even though I think that is every loving parent’s instinct.  However, I don’t want to teach my children to fear pain and suffering… because every circumstance is a chance to learn, to grow, to lean on Jesus, and seek His guidance.  With every little moment of trial they have at their young ages, I hope that as they run to me for comfort now, they will learn to seek refuge in Him forever.

God's Promise :)

The first thing Noah did was to thank God for rescuing them, just as he had promised.

And the first thing God did was to make another promise. "I won't ever destroy the world again." And like a warrior who puts away his bow and arrow at the end of a great battle, God said, "See, I have hung up my bow in the clouds."

And there, in the clouds - just where the storm meets the sun - was a beautiful bow made of light.

It was a new beginning in God's world.

It wasn't long before everything went wrong again but God wasn't surprised, he knew this would happen. That's why, before the beginning of time, he had another plan - a better plan. A plan not to destroy the world, but to rescue it - a plan to one day send his own Son, the Rescuer.

God's strong anger against hate and sadness and death would come down once more - but not on his people, or his world. No, God's war bow was not pointing down at his people.

It was pointing up, into the heart of Heaven.

Police threaten Christians with arrest for feeding homeless

I read this article this morning and was struck with a heavy heart and with so many questions....Is this what our Country has come to? Where is our Freedoms? When has it become a felony to be kind and generous to those of less fortune?

(If you do not agree with this post of having the liberty of being kind, loving and having compassion for others, please do not continue to read)

Police threaten Christians with arrest for feeding homeless:

Christians in Raleigh, NC have been told they will be arrested if they don't stop their regular ministry of feeding homeless and needy people on weekends.
Without just cause or legal citation, Raleigh police threatened Love Wins Ministries (LWM) for following Jesus' teachings of feeding the poor by simply handing food and coffee to hungry people near a city park.

According to Rev. Hugh Hollowell, the pastor and director of LWM, last Saturday, sausage biscuits and coffee were to be distributed to people in need.
"On that morning three officers from Raleigh Police Department prevented us from doing our work, for the first time ever. An officer said, quite bluntly, that if we attempted to distribute food, we would be arrested," the pastor said.
"No representative from the Raleigh Police Department was willing to tell us which ordinance we broke, or why, after six years and countless friendly and cooperative encounters with the department, they are now preventing us from feeding hungry people,"  the pastor said.
"When I asked the officer why, he said that he was not going to debate me. 'I am just telling you what is. Now you pass out that food, you will go to jail.'"
Pastor Hugh's response, regardless of any law the city may have, is an encouragement to other Christians. "Simple: We will feed people."

TAKE ACTION

Raleigh's mayor and city council need to step up to the plate and support ministries like Love Wins Ministries which are reaching out to the homeless and hungry.

Please send them a word of encouragement to come forward and clarify that no police action will be taken against Christians putting their faith into action.

You Can Take Heart in Uncertainty! an article I read and enjoyed

You Can Take Heart in Uncertainty

uncertainty
Uncertainty is a difficult thing to bear. We want to know where the provision is going to come from or if we’re going to die of this disease or how this child is going to turn out or if our job will still be there next month.
But as we see in Luke 9:57–58, Jesus makes it clear that his disciples must be able to bear uncertainty if they are to follow him.
“I will follow you wherever you go.”
I’m sure that whoever made this public declaration to Jesus was sincere. They likely had heard him preach and seen him perform amazing signs and wonders. As Jesus’s fame increased, so did the number of his would-be disciples.
What the person might not have known was that at that moment Jesus was homeless. Jesus and his cohort were traveling south from Galilee. He had set his face to go to Jerusalem, where his resolute purpose was to die. But to get there he had to travel through Samaria.
Getting the Context
Back then there was a lot of bad blood between Jews and Samaritans. More precisely, Samaritans had the bad blood. They were the result of centuries of intermarriage and religious syncretism between Jews and Israel’s former Gentile conquerors.
